Database Programmer/Integration Engineer

As a member of the White Box programming team, the Database Programmer/Engineer works closely with data analysts and clients to build data conversion and data integration solutions and implement the code used to build those solutions.  In addition to working on our services projects, Database programmers build internal reusable tools to allow future projects to be done more efficiently.  Because every project is a little different, with its own set of complications, the successful candidate will be able to adapt to new situations quickly and easily.  The engineer should be someone who enjoys challenges and building software solutions to overcome those challenges.

Primary job responsibilities consist of:

  • Examine, evaluate, design, develop, revise, and maintain SQL scripts, code, and queries for data translation, conversion, and reporting
  • Building & testing integration, API and conversion code
  • Writing documentation for code and processes
  • Building new tools (or enhancing/maintaining existing tools) to support ongoing data   integration/conversion efforts, primarily done in C# & ADO.NET using .NET frameworks 1.1 – 4.5
  • Communicating with internal and external team members about technical aspects of project
  • Database administrative tasks (backup, restore, installation) of numerous types of database

Experience

  • B.S. in CS, CSI, IT or equivalent
  • 1 – 6 years’ experience with strong professional Structured Query Language (SQL) expertise
  • Knowledge of building applications with the .Net framework (1.1 – 4.5)(C# Preferred) Javascript and Python also a plus
  • Skilled in writing non-database specific data access code a plus (ADO.NET)
  • Experience with Web Services and API development
  • Database Management (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Access, etc)
  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Capability to work both independently and in groups and be able to set goals based on shifting priorities
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written with technical as well as non-technical customers
  • Aptitude to analyze and debug issues
  • Industry Expertise within public safety software a plus. (Ex. Emergency Services , Records, Courts & Jail Management software)

Our clients include Government public safety agencies and other Government entities. A contractual obligation White Box has with many of our clients is the prerequisite for anyone working on their projects to meet their security requirements. This often requires separate FBI background checks by those agencies and at a minimum requires employees to be US based citizens or in certain instances US based with permanent residency. We must provide them with documentation that includes personal identifiable information and fingerprint cards.
